This week, learn about the Forevermark Exceptional Diamond Collection we are now proud to offer from Malak Jewelers!
You might already know that Malak Jewelers is an authorized Forevermark retailer, but you might not know what that means. What is a Forevermark diamond? What makes it so special?
Forevermark is an imprint of the De Beers diamond company. De Beers revolutionized the diamond world when it discovered diamonds in South Africa in the 19th century. Through savvy marketing, De Beers made diamonds what they are today. It's thanks to them that we have ideas like "a diamond is forever" and "diamonds are a girl's best friend."
Before the 20th century, diamonds were popular, but not as ubiquitous as they are today. De Beers, sitting on a jackpot of diamonds, needed to boost sales. So they created the idea that an engagement ring needed to be made of diamond. They argued that a diamond is forever -- nothing will scratch or wear down your diamond, unlike some other gemstones. Therefore, what could be a more perfect symbol of a lasting love? Nearly a century later, the rest is history. Diamonds are the stone of choice for engagement rings, and De Beers is the leading diamond merchant in the world.
Forevermark is one of the brand labels De Beers uses to sell their diamonds. Forevermark is the highest quality of diamond De Beers offers. They use an intense screening process to identify the top 1% of diamonds, which then become Forevermark diamonds. It's a long process that involves many people, a 17 step examination process, and exacting standards of quality.
Diamonds that pass that rigorous qualification process become Forevermark diamonds. They are cut by expert gemologists to intensify the beautiful cut, color, and clarity of the diamond. Then, once they are ready, the diamonds are inscribed with a unique identifying code. The inscription is microscopic -- 1/5000th the width of a human hair -- so it is invisible to the naked eye. It in no way harms the diamond. Instead, it certifies that you are now the owner of a one-of-a-kind, stunning Forevermark diamond.
Not satisfied with offering the top 1% of diamonds as Forevermark, De Beers is now moving toward the top fraction of those Forevermark diamonds. That select fraction is their newest label: the Forevermark Exceptional Diamond Collection.
The Forevermark Exceptional Diamond Collection features stunningly unique diamonds. These "exceptional diamonds" must meet the same standards of quality as a regular Forevermark diamond, and then some. Rather than pass a 17 step examination, they face at least a 27 step examination.
The real difference, though, is the size. As long as it passes the quality exams, any diamond above 0.10 carats may be a Forevermark diamond. Exceptional diamonds, on the other hand, must be at least 3 carats. Many exceptional diamonds are even larger than that. These stones are definitely eye-catching with their size and splendor making them a one in a lifetime kind of stone.
Exceptional diamonds are sold at only select retailers. Malak Jewelers is the only diamond retailer in the Charlotte area to offer these exceptional gemstones, and one of very few in the entire Southeast.
