Welcome to Malak Jewelers’ Flashback Friday! Each Friday, we will feature a piece or set of jewelry from our Estate Jewelry collection!
This week, in honor of wedding season, we're loving this platinum wedding band from Tiffany & Co.!
Traditionally, June is considered "wedding season." While weddings certainly peak during the summer months, likely due to good weather, floral availability, and schedule flexibility, there's something special about June. So, why is June the prescribed month for weddings?
It actually goes all the way back to ancient Rome! June is named after the Roman goddess Juno, the wife of Jupiter and queen of the gods. The beginning of June would see countless festivals celebrating Juno, so the month became identified with her. That's important, because Juno was the goddess of marriage and childbirth. So, brides looking to seek the favor of Juno would get married in her month. Having the blessing of the goddess of marriage was a good way to start out, especially if one wanted to have a large family!
Obviously, the blessing of Juno isn't a huge driving factor in when people get married anymore. But while Roman mythology is no longer the social norm, the tradition of June weddings stuck. Marriages took place in June historically, so why mess with tradition? For people who were interested in history and tradition, the thought of the connection to the goddess of marriage and the historical precedent was nice. For everyone else, June just happened to be very convenient for weddings.
Obviously, people can and do get married any month of the year, not just June! But June still remains the most popular month to get married. So if you find yourself invited to a bunch of weddings each June, you're not alone! And if you got married or are planning to get married in June, enjoy peak wedding season!
If June is the peak month for weddings, then Tiffany is the peak jeweler. Tiffany and Co. definitely has a reputation as the place to shop for all sorts of goodies, not just wedding jewelry, but you can't beat a Tiffany ring. That iconic blue box symbolizes love and marriage just as much today as Juno did back in ancient Rome!
Tiffany is one of the foremost jewelers in America. It was started in the early 1800s, and quickly established a reputation as a top notch jeweler and provider of luxury goods. Over the past nearly 200 years, that reputation hasn't faded. In fact, Tiffany's legacy as the symbol of romance has only been enhanced over time. Movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's solidified Tiffany's place in the pop culture lexicon as the place to go for romance and luxury.
If you're looking for a romantic present, look no further. The iconic Tiffany blue box will surely set any heart aflutter.
For this week's Flashback Friday, I've selected a simple but elegant platinum wedding band. Sure, most people think of engagement rings when they think of Tiffany. But don't forget that the wedding band is just as important! The wedding band symbolizes the next step forward as you and your fiancé become a family.
Platinum is a timeless choice for a wedding band. Platinum is one of the longest-lasting metals for jewelry. Choosing a platinum band sends a message that your marriage is going to last! Platinum is also good for a number of reasons: it is durable, protects stones, and is naturally hypoallergenic. The beautiful white shimmer of platinum is elegant and won't fade or dull. Plus, platinum is rare, just like your love. A platinum band is one of a kind.
This beautiful wedding band from Tiffany is timeless elegance. Let your engagement ring sparkle; the wedding band symbolizes something steadier. An understated band like this one allows the engagement band to shine without becoming overbearing. It provides the perfect accent piece and shows that your love is one to be treasured for a lifetime, just like this ring.
